Biofire Spotfire System by bioMerieux

The Biofire Spotfire System is a molecular infectious disease diagnostic testing system designed for Point-Of-Care (POC) use. Field observations & interviews with clinicians and medical assistants revealed several key insights that informed the hardware & software design. First of all, the rooms or spaces where POC devices are kept are small and crowded with other devices, equipment and supplies. This meant the hardware design needed to be very space efficient. Also, medical assistants are not accustomed to using devices that can run more than one test at a time. To avoid confusion, the GUI needed to quickly let the user know which of the test results were for their current patient(s).

This device was released to the market in 2023 and is taking the POC testing world by storm, with rave reviews and rapid adoption!
