Human ears are surprisingly varied in their size, shape and contour. The challenge was to create a sports-oriented ear bud that stayed in place during activity and comfortably fit a wide variety of ears. The final design employed a fit strategy where the ear bud was generally shaped to fit the inner bowl of the ear, but was also flexible to bend and conform to fit different ear shapes and sizes.
